The deal between you and us. Last updated 1 August 2026.
A subscription to The Retro Project gives you access to the library and to online play for as long as the subscription is active. It is a rental, not a purchase: when the subscription ends, access ends.
If it does not work on your computer and we cannot make it work, write to us within 14 days of paying and we will refund you. If something we changed broke your access, tell us and we will put it right or refund you, whichever you prefer.
A subscription is for you. Playing on your own computers is fine. Sharing your account so several people can play at once is not, and we may end a subscription being used that way.
Online play depends on servers we run and on your own connection. We do our best to keep it up and we are honest when it breaks, but we cannot promise it will never be unavailable. Be decent to other players: we may remove access from anybody who is abusive to others.
These are twenty year old games running on an emulator. Most of them work well, some have faults, and we cannot promise that any particular game runs perfectly on any particular computer. If your computer cannot run something acceptably, the refund above applies.
You can stop at any time by cancelling. We can end an account that breaks these terms, and if we do it without good reason we will refund what you have paid for the period.
